Morris Grassfed Beef  is the product of a rich California ranching tradition of caring for land and animals. With roots that reach  back to a San Francisco meat business in the 1850s and to  California’s Rancho Santa Margarita  (now known as Camp Pendleton), T.O. Cattle Company is one of the state’s oldest cattle and beef companies. Joe Morris’ great-great grandfather, Richard O'Neill, owned a butcher shop in San Francisco's financial district during the Gold Rush. In 1881, when he formed a partnership with James Flood to buy the Santa Margarita, T.O. Cattle Company was formed. In 1927, Joe’s grandfather, J.J. Baumgartner, moved to San Juan Bautista in San Benito County where he continued his family’s ranching tradition with his wife Elinor.

In 1991, Julie and Joe Morris moved to the ranch in San Juan Bautista and started direct marketing Morris Grassfed Beef to family and friends. In 2006, we formed a partnership with Liz and Everett Sparling, whose family has been ranching in San Benito County for seven generations.

We are happy to continue offering fine beef to our family and friends, while working to produce a biologically rich and beautiful landscape, living soils and clean water on the ranches we manage. Our cattle benefit from low-stress Vaquero skills, a completely organic diet of fresh grass, legumes and water, and world-class views of the Central California rangelands we call home. We do not use any synthetic hormones or feed antibiotics. We are third-party certified by the American Grassfed Association. Morris Grassfed Beef is food you will enjoy and can trust, produced with the utmost care your family deserves.

"I don't like hamburgers but I love Morris Grassfed Beef. I can actually taste the meat, not just the condiments."
